Mentoring Young Entrepreneurs: Part 1

March 2, 2015

Last week, I met two middle school students who want to start their own businesses. This is done through the Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA) and the meetings are held at Rosemont College. This organization seeks out adult entrepreneurs in various professions to mentor young people and lend their expertise to developing their idea. Since I am involved in branding, I am developing their logos and marketing materials. Each student also has a mentor.

In the meeting, each student gave me a condensed business plan that gave info on their tagline, vision, mission, industry, goals, objectives and target audience. I would ask questions to make sure I understood their idea. First, I must submit some logo ideas within 2 weeks. Then, we move on to other marketing materials. At the end of the program, they pitch their idea to an investor panel.

Stay tuned.
